To help you begin curating next season’s wardrobe, we’ve gathered the standout trends designers and fashion experts are forecasting for fall 2025. Great news: they’re big, bold, and anything but boring. In many ways, fashion is blooming with personality we haven’t seen for some time.
Aesthetically, trends over this past year have prioritized neatness, understated elegance, and sophistication. “Quiet luxury” styles soared in popularity. Ballet flats, slick-back ponies and tidy jewelry stacks paired with perfectly tailored clothing became the blueprint for the fashion-forward.
Don’t get us wrong: we still love these styles, many of which aren’t leaving our own repertoires anytime soon. But the new trends on the horizon are reminiscent of a time when we weren’t afraid to use fashion as a means of personal expression. This fall, we’re trading uniform tidiness for messy authenticity and unlikely pairings, and it’s a breath of fresh, chilly air.
Keep reading for six major trends to incorporate into your wardrobe this fall.
1. ANYTHING ANIMAL PRINT

Animal print isn’t new, but the fall runway this year transformed it into something fresh and bold. Leopard, snake, cheetah, cow prints and more are all fair game now, and each variation can be utilized in an outfit as an elevated neutral. Wear the print on an oversized faux fur coat–another favorite of the season–or contrast it with a solid-colored basic for a balanced look. Style it to be the loudest look in the room or a more muted layer. Either way, you’ll exude confidence and originality.

Fall 2025 styles are forgetting subtlety and placing power front and center. Sharp angles and exaggerated shapes were spotted all over the season’s runway, with an added emphasis on shoulders and hips. This trend takes clear inspiration from the 1980s– think boxy blazers with shoulder pads, sharply tailored blouses, and pointed-toe heels. Create shape throughout the waist and hips by pairing large, chunky belts or corsets with billowy bottoms, or even place them over top of a loose-fitting sweater. Bold silhouettes and colors are in, so don’t be afraid to overdo it.

3. BROWN MONOCHROME

Perhaps the most predictable trend of fall 2025 is brown remaining the color of the season. It’s a sleeker neutral than khaki, yet warmer than black or gray. Add brown to any fall outfit–whether a knit scarf, pullover, or coat– and your look is instantly elevated and on-trend.
This fall, runway styles took their love of brown a step further and experimented with full monochrome. Combine two or more shades of brown in one look to appear effortlessly chic, and bonus points if you include another one of this fall’s hottest pieces: a suede jacket.

4. SLOUCHY BAGS

Much like this season’s fashion trends more broadly, the hottest fall bags of 2025 are unstructured, dynamic, and unexpectedly fun. Opt for a classic brown tote for a timeless fall capsule piece, or if you’re feeling bold, choose a bright-colored, slouchy handbag to liven up your fall neutrals.

5. LACE & SHEER LAYERS

With delicate lace detailing that borrows from Victorian era gown styles, or sheers which expose and cover skin in unexpected places, translucent fabrics on the fall runway were all the rage. Layering in cooler months can be difficult, as it’s often reserved for functionality instead of fashion– but adding sheer or lace layers to your fall outfits is an easy way to create chic, sultry style. Try pairing a lacey long-sleeve under an oversized knit vest or layer a tunic or dress over a lace maxi skirt for a statement night-out look.

6. RUFFLES

If you take away one piece of advice from this fall’s style guide, let it be this: prioritize texture, shape, and movement in your upcoming looks. Quiet silhouettes and clean lines were left in last winter, and this season is doing the opposite– with ruffles front and center. Ruffles combine creative dynamism with childlike whimsy, instantly elevating any outfit and drawing in the eye. Pair a ruffled blouse with jeans for a more subtle look, or go bold with a fully-ruffled dress and kitten heels.
If ruffles aren’t your thing, highlight movement and texture with floaty maxi skirts, puff sleeves, western fringe, or flounced capes instead.
